As an event planner I always like to be prepared for anything that may come up on event day. I try to anticipate what might possibly happen that could create a potential problem. I make sure to always have my “Be Prepared” bag with me. Some people may call this their “emergency kit” but if you are truly prepared then there should be no emergencies – only little hiccups! “Be Prepared” may be a flashback to my old Girl Scouting days but it is a good motto to follow and helps me execute a much smoother, stress free event.
At a wedding one time I had a bride get lipstick on her dress just minutes before she was supposed to walk down the aisle and she was on the verge of tears (which we all know is a bad thing when your make-up is already done!). I pulled out my make-up remover wipes and some Kleenex. Lipstick was removed, tears blotted before the mascara started to run and all was good – potential crisis averted. My “Be Prepared” bag to the rescue!
Below is a list of the top 10 items that I keep in my bag so that I am ready for just about anything. Of course, to be fully prepared there are other items too depending on the type of event.
One other item that we can’t forget about since we live in Central Florida is an umbrella – I always have 2 or 3 in my car just in case!
- Make-up remover wipes
- Hair spray and bobby pins
- Tide pen
- Safety pins
- Tape Measure
- Duct tape – it can fix anything!
